How to Convert Your Personal Pinterest Account into a Business Account

  1. Convert your personal account into a business one by going to and pressing the red ‘Convert your existing account’ button.
  2. Provide the necessary information – choose your business type, update your name and email address, etc.
  3. Fill out the ‘Profile Info’ section on the same page.
  4. Read the ‘Agreement’ section then tick the box below to agree to the terms and agreement.
  5. Hit the red ‘Convert Account’ button and you’re done!

Now, after converting your account, you need to verify your website so that your website URL can be highlighted on your Pinterest account.  This will enable your viewers to know more about you, your website and your business.

How to Verify Your Website

Verifying your website on Pinterest is quite easy.

  1. Log in to your Pinterest account and go to ‘Settings’.  List your website* then hit the ‘Verify Website’ button.
  2. Download the HTML verification file that Pinterest will provide along with instructions.
    1. Click the ‘Download HTML verification file’ to download the file.
    2. Click the ‘Go to Pinterest’ button from the confirmation box that will appear.
    3. After uploading the file to your server**, you can click the ‘Click here’ phrase to complete the process.

Note:     *Pinterest can only verify top-level domains.

**Do not upload the file on a subfolder because Pinterest won’t be able to find it.  Upload the file on your web server’s root folder.

How to Add Pinterest Buttons and Widgets to Your Website

There are four different types of buttons and widgets that you can add to your website:

  • Pin It Button
  • Follow Button
  • Profile Widget
  • Board Widget

Pin It Button

The Pin It button will enable your readers to ‘pin’ items from your website onto Pinterest.  Your visual content will be easier to share and be found on Pinterest through this button.  You can create this button by:

  • Selecting whether you want a counter or not beside your Pin It button.
  • Choose whether you want the button to appear on just a single image or all images on your website.
  • Copy the code that Pinterest will generate and paste it on your HTML site.

Follow Button

The Follow button will enable your readers to follow your business account on Pinterest.  Creating a Follow button is also quite easy.

  • On the Follow button options, just provide your Pinterest user URL and full name.

Profile Widget

A Profile Widget will enable your website visitors to see up to 30 of your latest ‘pins’ on your website.  Creating your Profile Widget is really simple.

  • Enter your Pinterest user URL.
  • You can edit the height and width of the widget and the image width by editing them on the options below the user URL.
  • Copy the code generated by Pinterest and paste it anywhere you want your widget to appear in your website HTML

Board Widget

A Board widget enables your website viewers to see up to 30 of your board’s latest pins.  Setting up your own widget is also easy to do.

  • Provide your Pinterest Board URL.  You can also edit the width and height of the widget just like on the Profile widget.
